The Marichette Foundation facilitates access to education for New Brunswick women who are looking for better training to help them get out of a situation of economic dependence.

After the publication in 2011 of alarming statistics on the poverty rate of women in New Brunswick, women working in the community sector decided that it was time to act.

After long months of work, a foundation project to help low-income women pursue post-secondary education finally became a reality.

 

 32% of single-parent families headed by women lived below the poverty line

58% of women work for minimum wage

One in six women in NB lives below the poverty line

On March 8, 2016, International Women's Day, the Marichette Foundation was officially launched. Every year since then, the Foundation has been offering scholarships to women in the province who have significant financial needs to enable them to attend college or university. 

The Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization, authorized by the Canada Revenue Agency to issue official receipts for income tax purposes.
