Jurist Louise Arbour at the Marichette Foundation Breakfast

At its annual breakfast meeting on May 1st, the Marichette Foundation is pleased to welcome Ms. Louise Arbour as a guest speaker. Ms. Arbour is an internationally renowned jurist.

She recently completed her mandate at the United Nations as Special Representative of the Secretary-General on International Migration. She has held other important positions at the United Nations, including High Commissioner for Human Rights and Prosecutor General for the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda. She has served on the Supreme Court of Canada, the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Ontario.

Ms. Louise Arbour is Lawyer-in-Residence at the law firm of Borden Ladner Gervais. She provides strategic advice on litigation, governance and international disputes. She also acts as a mentor to young lawyers.

Ms. Arbour has received numerous honorary doctorates and awards. She has been a Companion of the Order of Canada since 2007, Grand Officer of the Ordre national du Québec since 2009, Commander of the Legion of Honour and decorated by Spain, Colombia and Belgium. She was named recipient of the 2016 Tang Prize in the Rule of Law category.

The event will take place on Friday, May 1st from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at the Delta Beauséjour Hotel, 750 Main Street in Moncton. The $100 ticket includes an $80 tax receipt.
