Biography:

Mirelle Cyr has more than thirty years of experience in the management and coordination of provincial, national and international files. Her experience allows her to understand the culture of an organization and to contribute to its development. Her ability to identify opportunities and network the necessary skills and expertise has enabled her to initiate multiple consultations in different areas in order to identify synergies and establish consensus for achieving the targeted objectives.

As Assistant Deputy Minister and Personal Representative (Sherpa) of the Premier to the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), she directed New Brunswick’s action on the international scene and coordinated the development of multiple initiatives and collaborative agreements aimed at promoting the province’s expertise in different fields. As Sherpa, she ensured links with the various institutions of the Francophonie and supported the organizations and institutions of the province in the development of large-scale initiatives.

She coordinated New Brunswick’s participation in ten Francophonie summits and more than twenty international ministerial meetings. She organized multiple international conferences held in New Brunswick.

As Assistant Deputy Minister also responsible for the official languages file, she coordinated federal-provincial negotiations on official languages and put in place collaborative mechanisms to maintain open and positive relations with the various community organizations while promoting stronger ties between the two official language communities in the province. She currently leads a national consortium whose mandate is to help increase access to educational materials in French at the college level.

As a consultant, she led the review of the New Brunswick Official Languages Act, led various consultation processes, carried out analyses and feasibility studies and developed and implemented various initiatives.

Mirelle Cyr currently sits on the boards of directors of the Marichette Foundation, the Théâtre l’Escaouette and has served on the boards of the SNA, Dialogue New Brunswick, the 2021 Francophonie Games, the SANB and the Théâtre populaire d ‘Acadie. Mirelle has a master’s degree in public administration from the Université de Moncton.
