The Marichette Foundation facilitates access to education for New Brunswick women who rely on better training to escape a situation of economic dependence.
After the publication in 2011 of alarming statistics on the poverty rate of women in New Brunswick, women working in the community sector decided that it was time to act.
Recognizing that education is an effective way to increase one’s income and living conditions and given the fact that only 25% of New Brunswickers have a diploma or university degree compared to 35% of Canadian women, they chose to create a scholarship fund.
After long months of work, the Marichette Foundation project finally became a reality.
On March 8, 2016, International Women’s Day, the Marichette Foundation was officially launched. Each year since then, the Foundation has offered scholarships to women in the province who have significant financial needs to enable them to pursue college or university studies.

The Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization, authorized by the Canada Revenue Agency, to issue official tax receipts.
The Marichette Foundation offers scholarships to New Brunswick women who live in financial insecurity to help them pursue training likely to allow them to achieve financial independence.
