January 15, 2025 – The Fondation Marichette is launching an appeal to women in New Brunswick who would like to study in French at college or university, but whose financial situation prevents them from realizing that dream. Interested candidates are invited to apply, by March 15, 2025 at the latest, for bursaries of $10,000 each, renewable for the duration of their study program. In this way, the Fondation Marichette enables bursary recipients to pursue a university or college education that will give them better career opportunities, thus contributing to their financial independence.
While the Fondation Marichette usually offers ten bursaries annually, a major gift from the Hewitt Foundation, a philanthropic family foundation, will exceptionally enable it to award an additional 10 bursaries in 2025, renewable for the duration of the chosen recipient’s college or university program.
“For the Fondation Marichette, this is a pivotal moment of the year that ties in with our mission of contributing to access to education for francophone women in New Brunswick. We always look forward to receiving applications from women who dream of a better future”, says Foundation chair Nicole Gionet.
The bursaries are made possible through donations and activities organized by the Foundation. The number of bursaries awarded depends on annual revenues and the fund’s performance. In particular, the recent capital campaign Étudier donne des ailes (Education Gives Wings) increased the number of bursaries to be awarded in 2025-2026.
Selection criteria include:
